SDCC Pre-sale Voucher Refunds Through 7/21 Noon PTJuly 19, 2010 Toy Fans, We’ve heard some of you are concerned that sales tax was charged on products pre-sold at our SDCC voucher sale last week and not on the items sold at the show, and we want to let you know this is not correct. We do indeed charge tax at the show. The difference is that at the show, sales tax is included in the total price you pay. If you purchased a pre-sale voucher online, then sales tax is charged in addition to the price of the product. This is done for several reasons. First, for products sold at the show, all customers are charged California sales tax so we can easily set a product price that includes tax, thereby keeping the purchase price a “round” number. This allows us to better accommodate the large number of cash customers at the show and move them through the line faster. For online sales, sales tax differs state-to-state, so the tax will vary based on where the customer resides. Because of this, there is no way to round out the purchase price for all customers in all states. We felt that the small tax savings for customers who purchase at the show would be offset by the added value of not waiting in line and being guaranteed product. All that said, we understand if you would prefer to purchase at the show instead of using the pre-sale voucher. If you would like a refund for your pre-sale voucher, we will gladly give you one. Simply contact Customer Service at 1-877-GO-MATTY or email MattyCollector.CS@digitalriver.com. Refunds are being offered ONLY until Wednesday, July 21st at 1 p.m. PT. The data in question was limited to Direct Response Technologies’ DirectTrack affiliate business and some business contact information related to certain affiliate marketers. This week, World Events Productions (WEP) and Classic Media announced that a new Voltron™ animated series will be airing on Nicktoons, Voltron Force™. And who's going to develop an all-new line of Voltron toys to go with it? Mattel! Voltron is one of the most iconic brands ever created, and the new show is going to be an epic action-adventure series that fans old and new alike are gonna love. Let's go Voltron Force! — Matty Plastic Man Packaging Shapes Up to Be Super SpecialMay 20, 2010 DCU Fans, One of the SDCC figures we know you’re stoked to see is the one and only malleable immortal, Plastic Man. Being that he’s a super hero and all, we felt his packaging should be equally impressive and here’s your first look!
This special packaging has been shaped to look like Plastic Man himself and it comes in a full-color shipper box for safe keeping. But the coolest thing of all? A pair of Plastic Man glasses are included that can be removed from the package and worn by you!
The figure itself has interchangeable standard arms, stretchy arms, giant form hands (a fly swatter and a bouncy ball with racket), and interchangeable stretchy neck and leg springs. If you do purchase Plastic Man at SDCC, he’ll also come with a special suitcase available only at the show (packed in a separate poly bag). Meet Mo-Larr, Eternian DentistApril 22, 2010 MOTU Fans, You may have heard that we revealed one of our SDCC exclusives on Attack of the Show. If you haven’t already seen him, let me introduce you to the newest member of the MOTU lineup: Mo-Larr, Eternian Dentist – on call and ready to destroy the evil that is tooth decay!  Just who is this handsome devil and what’s his story? You’ll have to wait until we get closer to SDCC for his official bio to be revealed, but I can tell you how he came to be. You probably know that the Robot Chicken crew at Adult Swim are big fans of MOTU. We at Mattel are equally big fans of Robot Chicken, so we teamed up to create the first ever MOTU figures featured in a Robot Chicken sketch! Mo-Larr was featured in the famous (infamous?) episode featured on the DVD release of Robot Chicken Season 2 where he chased down Skeletor® and relieved him of an impacted wisdom tooth, sans numbing agent. Mo-Larr comes complete with drill, floss, and pliers with the tooth of poor Skeletor® still attached. But what’s a dentist without a patient? Mo-Larr will, of course, be teamed up in a two-pack with a tooth-missing Skeletor, just like in the classic skit. So remember, brush twice daily and don’t forget to floss… or Mo-Larr could be coming after you this July! −Matty Club Eternia™ Subscriptions Processing Two Days EarlyApril 20, 2010 Club Eternia™ Subscribers, As we’ve told you, we’re working behind the scenes to do all we can to help our monthly sales go more smoothly. Beginning with our May sale, we’ll be processing subscription orders two business days before sale day. This is great for subscribers, because it guarantees subscription orders go out well before everything else so subscribers get their product sooner. And, it’s good for us because we help reduce the strain on the warehouse of trying to process thousands of orders on a single day. So, for example, for our sale on Monday, May 17th, the monthly figure shipments will begin processing on Thursday, May 13th, so you’ll start seeing your order confirmation emails then. Please keep in mind that because there are so many orders, it can still take 5 to 7 days for all orders to actually leave the warehouse. But regardless, subscription orders will go out first. You can still go online the day of the sale and purchase additional figures, along with all the other cool stuff we’ve got available each month. (Sorry, but we won’t be able to combine shipping.) How the Shipping Process Works Although you committed for a full year when you signed up for the subscription, because you aren’t charged for your monthly figure until it ships, your subscription is basically “renewed” every month. Attack of the Show SDCC Reveal Air DatesApril 8, 2010 Toy Fans,  Okay, everyone, we just got official confirmation that our SDCC product reveals are going to air on Attack of the Show on the G4 network April 12th and April 15th! Why two nights? Because the stuff we’re revealing is so good, it couldn’t be done in a single show! Attack of the Show will sneak peek four products each night. We’ll finally put to rest some of the rumors about what we’ll have at SDCC and there are exclusives from some of our most popular collector lines. No, we’re not telling you anything beforehand — you’ll just have to tune in to find out what they all are! You can check your local listings for channels/times, but there’s one thing to keep in mind. Although we’ve been given these dates, it’s not a guarantee our segments will be aired. If another big story comes along, Attack of the Show has every right to bump us (which they’ve done in the past), just like any news show. So, we decided to do a little housecleaning and have standardized the descriptions. Now, when you see a product status, it’ll mean the same thing across the board. After a complete review and lots of discussion, these are the only categories that made the cut, and their explanations: So there you have it. If we ever do feel the need to change them or add another category (which we seriously hope we never have to do again), we’ll let you know. We’ll also be adding these explanations to our FAQs, so you can always refer to them there. —Matty 3/15 Sale Reminder & Product Shipment UpdateMarch 12, 2010 MattyCollector.com Fans, Just a quick update on our sale Monday, March 15th. All products arrived yesterday at our warehouse so the sale will proceed as planned, with one small caveat. Under normal conditions, products ship within about 5 days of purchase or subscription renewal date. This hinges on the product getting to the warehouse in enough time for them to receive and properly process it, which is supposed to be at least two weeks before the sale date. Sometimes, circumstances beyond our control (like in this case) mean the warehouse doesn’t get the time it needs. They’re still hoping to get everything out in the 5 day window, but we need to allow for an extra day or two, just in case. You’ll know your order has shipped when you receive the shipment confirmation email (when it’s shipped, the confirmation is triggered), so don’t worry if you don’t get your shipping confirmation right away. Product normally leaves the warehouse within 5 days and we’re allowing an extra 2 just in case. If you don’t get the confirmation after 7 business days, then please do contact customer service. One other thing is that available quantities of most products are fairly low (beyond the subscriptions − those are all guaranteed), so we do expect a quick sellout on most items. Also, we know that with the volume of our sales you should expect to see the white “rate limiter” screen (similar to buying concert tickets). Please don’t panic − it’s there to keep the massive amounts of traffic flowing without crashing the servers. And definitely don’t hit refresh, or you’ll lose your place in the queue. Preview Clip: Justice League MovieFebruary 18, 2010 Justice League Fans, You probably know by now that Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, an all-new DC Universe Animated Original Movie is finally coming to our world on February 23rd. If you’re like me, it feels like the big day will never get here, but fear not because I’ve got something that’ll help ease the pain… a link to an all-new clip! The clip sets up the film's primary conflict with Lex Luthor (voiced by the awesome Chris Noth) explaining the plight of his Earth, and attempting to recruit the Justice League to join the battle against the Crime Syndicate. Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths is an original story from award-winning animation/comics writer Dwayne McDuffie (Justice League) rooted in DC Comics' popular canon of "Crisis" stories depicting parallel worlds with uniquely similar super heroes and villains. Bruce Timm (Superman, Doomsday, Green Lantern) is executive producer, and Lauren Montgomery (Wonder Woman, Green Lantern) and Sam Liu (Superman/Batman: Public Enemies) are co-directors. The full-length animated film will be available as a special edition 2-disc version on DVD and Blu-Ray® Hi-Def, as well as single disc DVD, On Demand, and Download. Now, all 2010 Club Eternia™ subscribers will automatically get the version with unflocked ears as their March figure! But because we produced a small quantity of flocked ears before making what’s called a “running change,” we will sell both the flocked-ear and unflocked-ear versions as separate items on March 15th. That means there will be two separate product pages, one with flocked ears and one with unflocked ears, so you’ll need to be careful that you order the one you want. Again, there’s just a small quantity of the flocked-ear version available, and we’re expecting them to go quickly. Other than the flocking, the figures are identical. Both versions will have an evergreen fresh scent and an alternative 2002-inspired head designed by the Four Horsemen. MOTU Art Show 1/8 – 1/29 in Los AngelesDecember 11, 2009 MOTU Fans, Okay, this is really cool… MOTU is the upcoming subject of an art show at Gallery1988:Los Angeles! The show is called "Under The Influence: He-Man and the Masters of the Universe," where 100 artists (100!) will reinterpret and pay tribute to our beloved MOTU brand. Here are the details:
The show lineup features 100 of the top emerging contemporary artists, who all grew up playing with He-Man® and MOTU. The gallery will be transformed into Castle Grayskull™ for the event. It’s a huge honor to be featured in an “Under The Influence” show. Past honorees include Walt Disney, Stan Lee, and Mattel’s own Hot Wheels® brand for its 40th Anniversary!
